Authors! Host your stories here with no worries!

An amateur author friend of mine contacted me a while ago and linked me to some various websites set up to host amateur author's stories.

What she was concerned with was the predatory terms of service on some of them. Some of which went like this: "by hosting your content here, you license us the ability to use the content as we desire, including the ability to sub-license the content to third parties to use as they like".

I decided to set up a website where authors could host their content for others to enjoy or "just 'cuz". This is that site.

There are no terms of service here. Every author's contributions are protected by copyright law (and on that note, any author posting their content here inherently licenses Novarata.net to display said content here on site, and via Really Simple Syndication [else why would an author be posting their work, right?])

Q: As an author , what can I post here?
A: Anything you create :) This site exists to host author's work so others may enjoy it.

"Creative writing" includes (but isn't limited to) the following:
- Short stories
- Novels
- Poetry
- Scripts (for stage, screen, radio, comics, etc)

So long as it's your original content, any creative writing is welcome here :)

As a graduate of a journalism course and a nerd, I would highly suggest you write your stuff locally (using a text editor on your own 'puter) and keep it saved locally. That way, you always have the content at hand to share if you find other places to do so and if the the internet takes a s**t while you're uploading your story, you won't lose it.

This site can also be used for copyright validation. In the old days, an author would post their finished project to themselves, and keep the sealed package in their possession to prove "first publishing" date and ownership (the post office's stamp canceling provided a timestamp, and the sealed envelope provided "verification of ownership".

Today, there are several legally recognized archive sites that can be used in the same manner (just submit your hosted story URL here to one such site, and it will archive a legally-recognized copy along with the time & date when it was archived)

I am not a lawyer, so none of what you've read here constitutes legal advice in any fashion.

If you'd like to host your creative writing here, just send me an email or bump me on a discussion board or Signal.
